Welcome to SPOT Time Online

This is a work in progress, but we wanted to welcome you!  SPOT is a collaborative service provision between Speech and Language, Occupational Therapy, and of course the teachers and students.  Our general ideas are themed out per month as bugs, dinosaurs, sports, and any other kid friendly concept.  Then we expand it to include a few basic language concepts like same/different, in/out, on/off and any other that is specific to the student's needs.  Using music and movement, we meet their sensory needs, trying to find their just-right feeling.  Then, we incorporate fine motor development into activities that may address cutting skills, grasp, bilateral hand skills, etc.  Throughout all of the activities, language and speech is addressed, whether by vocalizations, gestures, signs, or pictures.  Sequencing of activities is addressed through our picture schedule and first then approach during the fine motor tasks.  So whether you are a teacher, parent, or therapist, you may find some of our ideas doable in your home/school too!  Enjoy!
